'Gnomeo and Juliet' Wins at the Box-Office This Weekend!

Disney's latest kids' movie, Gnomeo and Juliet, was released to  theaters over two weeks ago in third place. Last weekend, a holiday, it rose to second place, and this weekend, it finally took the box-office crown. The animated/musical film won a pretty slow weekend, making $14.2 million, dropping only 26 percent from last week and raising its total haul to $75.1 million. Even though the film started out the weekend in fourth place, it jumped an amazing 101 percent on Saturday thanks to a large turnout from families. Not too bad for a film that Disney wasn't even going to be releasing two years ago (Disney inherited the movie from its now-sold Miramax Films production company.) Here's how the weekend went down: (in millions)
1. Gnomeo & Juliet — $14.2 (3rd week)
2. Hall Pass — $13.4 (1st week)
3. Unknown — $12.4 (2nd week)
4. Just Go With It — $11.1 (3rd week)
5. I Am Number Four — $11.0 (2nd week)
6. Justin Bieber: Never Say Never — $9.2 (3rd week)
We here at The Disney Flame have sadly not been able to see this hit kids movie yet, but we hope so soon so we can do a movie review for you guys. Have you seen the film? If so, did you like it? Tell us in the comments!
