Disney's latest kids' movie, Gnomeo and Juliet, was released to theaters over two weeks ago in third place. Last weekend, a holiday, it rose to second place, and this weekend, it finally took the box-office crown. The animated/musical film won a pretty slow weekend, making $14.2 million, dropping only 26 percent from last week and raising its total haul to $75.1 million. Even though the film started out the weekend in fourth place, it jumped an amazing 101 percent on Saturday thanks to a large turnout from families. Not too bad for a film that Disney wasn't even going to be releasing two years ago (Disney inherited the movie from its now-sold Miramax Films production company.)
