Selena Gomez & The Scene "When The Sun Goes Down" Album Review

Selena Gomez & The Scene's new album, "When The Sun Goes Down" is easily their best yet, but we'll take it a little further by rating each song, and giving you one rating for the entire album. Here we go:

1. "Love You Like A Love Song"

This modern take on a love song (hence the name) is almost definitely about her current boyfriend Justin Bieber, but it's still good enough to totally forget about him.
4/5

2. "Bang Bang Bang"

So you've never heard a song about stealing love? Yeah right. But you probably haven't heard it used in this way. Selena tells us about her boyfriend again, but also describes giving her love that used to belong to another man, to her current one.
4/5

3. "Who Says"

This self-empowerment anthem uses acoustic guitars, and some slightly auto-tuned vocals to attempt to make people not only ignore their haters, but also make themselves feel better than ever before.
4.5/5

4. "We Own the Night" (feat. Pixie Lott)

This worry-free song about being with friends smartly uses Pixie Lott for "oh-ohs" which ties-in perfectly with the dance-y song which is probably the easiest song to dance to.
5/5

5. "Hit the Lights"

Losing yourself in the music and dancing is the main focus of this song, but also talks about forgetting your past mistakes and living in the moment. While it does feel a bit confused about whether it's a dance anthem or a ballad, it is a pretty good song to either listen to for the music or the meaning.
4.5/5

6. "Whiplash"

Selena brought out some big names for this super-original song when it comes to the sound in the "Lickety split" section where Selena seems to cross over from America to a mix of French and British. It's definitely a song that you hate at first, but then it immediately begins to grow on you.
4.5/5

7. "When the Sun Goes Down"

While they did over-edit this one, this is definitely the song to do it on. The main message seems to be "sleep all day, dance all night", which may not be the best, but it is an interesting dance song that is just a little bit slower than usual.
4/5

8. "My Dilemma"

Selena is hoping that her boyfriend (not Justin this time) will turn himself around for her, but all of the rumors about him say otherwise. I personally love when she starts singing very high, and it's a great example of why her and Rock Mafia need to come together more often.
5/5

9. "That's More Like It"

I must be drawn to her higher notes, because I also loved this song because of them. Last night, I had only that part stuck in my head. It is also recommended by Entertainment Weekly, and I usually agree with what they say.
4.5/5

10. "Outlaw"

Gosh this album has a lot of songs about boyfriends! In this case, it's about her best friend's boyfriend, and Selena's warning him that he shouldn't be messing with her friend.
4/5

11. "Middle of Nowhere"

Yet another boyfriend song, Selena sings about her boyfriend who won't leave her anywhere by herself. However, it sounds off-key at times and she is obviously straining to reach the higher notes of the song, which she either hit in earlier songs, or they just had a better editor.
3/5

12. "Dices" ("Who Says" - Spanish)

Este himno de auto-empoderamiento usa guitarras acústicas, y algunos un pocooptimiza automáticamente la voz para tratar de hacer que la gente no sólo ignoransus enemigos, sino también sentirse mejor que nunca. Yeah, it's the same review of "Who Says" just in Spanish. However, it does sound like it's a little bit more edited.
3.5/5

Overall: 4.2/5

Do you think it deserved better? If so, tell us in the comments! And be sure to buy it on iTunes!

'Cars 2' Review from Star Movie Ratings

Picture from Collider.com

From now on, all of our movie ratings will be taken from our new partner site, Star Movie Ratings. Here's their review for Disney Pixar's latest flick, Cars 2:

"For our first review, we'll be discussing the highs and lows of Pixar's latest family hit, Cars 2. Though it is a sequel to the original Cars (2006),  it feels like a whole different series... in a good way. We'll break the movie down into different parts and rate them accordingly. And of course, spoiler warning.

Radiator Springs

While almost the entire first film was set in this small, all-American town, only about ten minutes of the movie are spent here this time around. It is shown at almost the very beginning and at the very end. At the beginning, it felt rushed with Mater doing about five things that him and Lightning used to enjoy, yet where it happened across an hour and forty-five minutes last time, this time it's condensed into about thirty seconds. The only part I enjoyed from that was the few minutes focusing on Mater posing as a waiter to be able to go on Lightning and Sally's date.

The end part I found unnecessary, but I figured they would show it. The quality of it felt like one of the many "CarsToons" that they have been showing on the Disney Channel, which look great, but have pretty bad plots.

Grade: C- / 75

World Grand Prix

We had only seen a little bit of all the flashy things that the Pixar makers can create in the first film, where as here, it's right in your face. As soon as Mater and Lightning cruise on into the World Grand Prix launch party, your mesmerized with deep purples, blues, greens, yellows, reds, and every other bright color you can imagine. And it looks awesome. While I know that this has no relation to the plot or review of the movie, I find it amazing that if I had just been shown that scene, I might not have been able to tell you if the movie I was watching was animated or not.

The actual racing scenes I didn't like, mainly because of the horrible attempt and showing time passing, where as in the first one, they did a great job with that in the races. The overall racing time in this movie was about ten minutes, and it felt like five. I did like the Italian racer, and especially Jeff Gorvette, as I am a huge Jeff Gordon fan. Other than that, the Grand Prix was only okay for me.

Grade: B- / 84

Mater's Spy Adventure

Here's a hint: there's no way that Lightning McQueen should be on the front of the poster. Mater was easily shown twice as much as Lightning in this movie, which is what I think made people review it badly. However, that's what made the movie for me. Mater went along with his shenanigans, (according to Holly Shiftwell, Finn McMissile's partner, he acts "extremely American") and of course got into trouble in the restroom of all places where he ended up getting himself and unwanted car wash and had a tracking device snapped onto him by an American spy. He is then assumed to be the American spy, and hilarity ensues as he attempts to all the things a spy would do, but with his signature Tow Mater flare.

In the end, Holly ends up being his girlfriend, which I thought was good as poor Mater misunderstood her telling him that they'll "rendezvous tomorrow night", taking it as her asking him out on a date. He is of course asked to be a full-time spy by Holly and Finn, but turns it down saying that he belongs in Radiator Springs. I believe that it was the safe way to go, and they really missed the opportunity to do a Cars spin-off, and of course to break the mold of kids' movies of "Thanks for the totally amazing opportunity to do something that I could never even dream of much less get to participate in my whole life, instead I'll stay in my hometown that has a population of 600 people." or in this case, cars.

Grade: A- / 93

Overall Rating: B- / 84

Overall, it was one of the best kids movies in a long time, and I enjoyed it much more than the original. To help you imagine that, I would rank Cars 2 one slot ahead of Wall-E, but behind Finding Nemo and Up. In relation, the original Cars would be ahead of Ratatouille, but still behind Monsters, Inc. and The Incredibles. Just for the record, my least favorites areToy Story and A Bug's Life, and my favorite would have to be Up. I know that's different than most people's opinions, but I generally have different tastes from others.

'Cars 2' Crosses the Finish Line at the Box-Office with $68 Million

Pixar's latest animated flick, Cars 2, has raked in $68 million at the box-office this weekend, beating Cameron Diaz's Bad Teacher, the other new wide release this week. While it got the worst reviews for any Pixar movie so far, we just saw the movie today and loved it, even more than the original Cars! What do you think? Apology About Giving Credit UPDATED With Note from Head Teen Entertainment Editor, Matt

It has been brought to my attention that some commenting Blogger members have been rude in their posts about pictures, articles, etc. The only picture or list that we took were from Teen Entertainment, and I am an editor on that site. Everyone on that site knows perfectly well that they can use our information for any of their posts. So now that that is straightened out, we would like to add a new rule to the comments portion of our blog:

Your comments will immediately be banned from the site permanently if you bash the website, post, or things (movies, shows, people) mentioned in the post.

We will start giving credit to lists or pictures that we post from other sites to make it right. Also, the list that one of the members posted was also from Teen Entertainment, and we definitely altered the list from their version to fit the punctuation and capitalization that we use here at The Disney Flame.

We would like to apologize for not giving credit to any websites that we may have taken pictures from. We never intended to make it seem as though they were ours.

Lastly, we hope you know that we wouldn't have had to write the first part of this post if the matter had been handled maturely. If the people commenting had simply messaged me (Samuel) or messaged us on Twitter, we would have been able to handle this matter quicker, more professionally, and we would not have had to have rude comments on our website for a few days.

Thanks for your time,
Samuel
(Founder of The Disney Flame)

UPDATE: I recently received this comment from head Teen Entertainment editor, Matt. We hope this calms anyone who was upset about the matter. Great thanks to Matt!

Hey, it's Matt! I honestly don't mind if you get information from my website and don't give credit. Since you post on Teen Entertainment, you get full access to everything! Don't worry about giving us credit. Also, the same news is usually on other websites, too, so it's not like TE is the only website that has it. I'm so sorry if some people were rude about this matter. I just want to let you know that it's totally okay if you take anything from us. Thank you and keep up the good work, Samuel!

Selena Gomez "Love You Like A Love Song" Music Video Preview!

Selena's newest single, "Love You Like A Love Song" has a music video coming out soon, and here's a preview!

Looks awesome! What do you think? Are you still mad about the painted horses, or just excited to see it fully? There isn't a premiere date yet, but hopefully it will be soon!

How Much Money Does Selena Gomez Make? (And How Much Did Demi Lovato and Miley Cyrus Make?)

Many people assume that teen stars make a ton of money per episode, but that really isn't true. Miley Cyrus only made $15,000 per episode for her run on Hannah Montana. Before she left the series, Demi Lovato made even less at $12,000 per episode on Sonny With A Chance. Selena Gomez makes the most money on Disney Channel at $25,000 an episode for Wizards of Waverly Place, which is now in it's final season.

Miley made so little compared to everyone else because she makes $75,000 per single concert she performs, made a ton on Hannah Montana: The Movie, and also makes quite a bit on Hannah Montana merchandise. I can't quite figure out why Demi made so little, but it was probably because her series didn't quite grab the ratings that Miley and Selena's did. Selena still makes a little bit less than Miley did because she didn't make as much for Wizards of Waverly Place The Movie, makes as much on merchandise, or get so much for a concert.

In comparison, Nick's biggest star, Miranda Cosgrove, makes $180,000 per episode of iCarly, but Keke Palmer only made $20,000 per episode of True Jackson VP, and Victoria Justice only made $12,000 per episode for the first season VicTORious, though that is sure to change now that her series has great ratings and it is putting out a lot of merchandise.

What do you think? Are they payed too little, too much? Tell us in the comments!
