Disney Channel has just announced the return of the Disney Channel Games, under a new name, Friends for Change Games. The event last took place in 2008. In 2009 and 2010, the event was cancelled due to actors/actresses being unavailable during the summer as they the majority of them were working on movie or music projects. For those who haven't seen it, the event consists of U.S. and even some international Disney Channel stars competing as teams (Red, Yellow, Green, and Blue) in relay races, obstacle courses, egg tosses, and more challenges of that sort. The challenges also include performances by some of the hottest Disney stars of the year.
This year at the end of the competition, there will be a Concert for Hope, which will raise money for Cancer Awareness, headlined by Selena Gomez & The Scene, featuring other performances by Allstar Weekend and the Jonas Brothers. Also, the games, which will be filmed in Los Angeles this year instead of Orlando, are said to not be as "elaborate" as 2007 and 2008's. We're not really sure what that means, but we guess that the challenges will be smaller and maybe feature less of main characters.
Exciting! We always used to love the Disney Channel Games and were sad when they took it away two years ago. Will you be watching? Tell us in the comments!
